 Positions available:

Essential functions: The physical requirements to these positions, include but are not limited to picking up and carrying a child of minimum of 40 pounds, and mobility necessary to reach a child quickly in an emergency. Work will be conducted indoors and outdoors, and with animals of various kinds.
 

3-Day Toddler Assistant Teacher

 

Montessori School of Durham is seeking an Assistant Teacher in a Montessori Toddler classroom with children 18 months to 3 years of age. The start date for this position is August 12, 2019. Applicant must be responsible and able to learn Montessori methods. Training is provided. The length of day is 7:50 am to approximately 12:30 pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from mid-August 2019 to late May 2019. References and criminal background check required; Bachelor’s degree and experience working with children preferred. Assistant works with a certified Montessori Teacher. Early Childhood Assistant Teacher

Montessori School of Durham is seeking an Assistant Teacher in a Montessori Early Childhood classroom (children age 3 to 6). Hours are 7:50 a.m. to approximately 12:30 p.m. weekdays beginning in August 2019. Training is provided. Candidates for the position must be responsible and able to learn Montessori methods. References and a criminal background check are required. A Bachelor’s degree and experience working with children are preferred. Competitive salary and some benefits offered.

Lower Elementary Lead Teacher

Montessori School of Durham is seeking a Lead Teacher for an established Lower Elementary classroom. Applicant must have an AMS-approved Montessori certification, experience working in a Montessori classroom, and dedication to working in a faculty-responsible school. A bachelor’s degree and background check is required. Length of day is 7:50 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Lower Elementary teachers receive additional support from Art, Reading, and Spanish Specialists.

Montessori School of Durham is seeking an Assistant Teacher for our Upper Elementary classroom with students aged 9-12 years old. Experience in a Montessori classroom is preferred, but candidates able to learn Montessori methods are encouraged to apply. Training will be provided. A bachelor’s degree and background check are required. Length of day is 7:50 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays mid-August 2016 to June 2, 2017. Upper El. teachers receive additional support from Art, Reading, and Spanish Specialists.

Elementary After School Lead Instructor

Montessori School of Durham is seeking an After School Lead Instructor who will work with the Elementary age children during the After School hours. Responsibilities include: preparing and organizing activities inside and on the playground, picking up students at dismissal, supervising and engaging the children in after school activities, and guiding the assistant in supervising and escorting children to Enrichment activities. The length of the day is 2:30 - 6 pm Monday through Friday. The After School Lead Instructor also works the set-up week, orientation camp, spring break camp, and No School Camp days. These dates require flexibility and availability for work outside the normal shift hours. Applicants must be punctual, reliable, professional, and nurturing. References and criminal background check required; childcare experience is required, previous experience in a Montessori setting is preferred, but not required.

Elementary After School Assistant Instructor

Montessori School of Durham is seeking an After School Assistant Instructor who will work with the Elementary age children during the After School hours. Responsibilities include: picking up students from dismissal, supervising and engaging the children in after school activities, and setting up and cleaning up the classroom. The length of the day is 2:45 - 6 pm Monday through Friday. The After School Assistant Instructor also works the set-up week, orientation camp, spring break camp, and No School Camp days. These dates require flexibility and availability for work outside the normal shift hours. Applicants must be punctual, reliable, professional, and nurturing. References and criminal background check required; childcare experience is required.

Substitute Teachers

  • Hours vary depending on Staff needs; hours will be plentiful for Substitutes who are able and willing to jump in!
  • Applicants must be punctual, reliable, professional, and nurturing. Previous experience in a Montessori practices setting is preferred, but not required, and applicant must be open to learning more of the philosophy (training will be provided). Criminal check and references required.
