Professional Development

As a school, we are committed to meeting Independent School Management's stability marker for the percentage of our Operating budget that is allocated toward professional development. We are extremely proud to share that as a result of these funds, our staff accumulated a total of 1253 professional development hours for an average of 45 hours per faculty and administrative staff member. We offer our congratulations to our staff for their commitment to excellence by continuing their education that ultimately enhances the classroom experience for our students and school operations.

Accreditation and Memberships

In 1996, Montessori School of Durham was recognized as the first school in North Carolina to become an Accredited School by the American Montessori Society. Today we are one of six schools in the state of North Carolina to maintain this ranking. We also maintain accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). MSD is also a member school of North Carolina Association of Independent Schools (NCAIS), National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), Independent School Management (ISM), and National Business Officers Association (NBOA).
