Positions available:

Essential functions: The physical requirements to these positions, include but are not limited to picking up and carrying a child of minimum of 40 pounds, and mobility necessary to reach a child quickly in an emergency. Work will be conducted indoors and outdoors, and with animals of various kinds. Being on campus is an essential function of the job unless the school is mandated to move to remote learning. If remote learning becomes necessary, direction will be given at that time.

 

 

Early Childhood and Elementary After School Instructors

Montessori School of Durham is seeking After School Instructors for the 2021-2022 school year who will work with the Early Childhood and Elementary age children. Responsibilities include: preparing and organizing activities inside and on the playground, supervising and engaging the children in after school activities, and escorting children to on-campus Enrichment activities. The normal school day schedule for this position is  2:30 - 6 pm Monday through Friday. The After School Instructor also works on days that school is not in session when the After School Program offers camp days. These dates require flexibility and availability for work outside the normal shift hours and can vary. Applicants must be punctual, reliable, professional, and nurturing. References and criminal background check required;  experience working  with children is required, previous experience in a Montessori setting is preferred, but not required.

Director of Programs and Staff Support

Montessori of Durham is currently seeking a full-time administrative position as Director of Programs and Staff Support. The ideal candidate for this position will be an educational and administrative leader with a commitment to and understanding of the Montessori pedagogy, and dedicated to fostering a positive and collaborative school community. This leader will possess excellent communication and leadership skills with a largely collaborative management style. As a member of the administrative team, the Director of Programs and Faculty Support will partner with the Head of School to implement and support the daily operations, strategic initiatives, and long-term goals of the school while offering support to the teaching staff and to admissions as needed.

Substitute Teachers

Montessori School of Durham is seeking Substitute Teachers for classrooms and After School programs serving children from 18 months to 12 years old for  the 2020-2021 school year. Hours vary depending on Teachers’ needs.  Applicants must be punctual, reliable, professional, nurturing, and willing to learn Montessori practices. References and criminal background check required; teaching or childcare experience is required, previous experience in a Montessori setting is preferred, but not required.
