Positions available:

Essential functions: The physical requirements to these positions, include but are not limited to picking up and carrying a child of minimum of 40 pounds, and mobility necessary to reach a child quickly in an emergency. Work will be conducted indoors and outdoors, and with animals of various kinds. Being on campus is an essential function of the job unless the school is mandated to move to remote learning. If remote learning becomes necessary, direction will be given at that time.

 

Early Childhood After School Instructors

Montessori School of Durham is seeking After School Instructors who will work with the Early Childhood age children. Responsibilities include: preparing and organizing activities inside and on the playground, supervising and engaging the children in after school activities and quiet rest/nap, and escorting children to on-campus Enrichment activities. The normal school day schedule for this position is 12:00 - 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. The After School Instructor also works during the Summer, and on days that school is not in session when the After School Program offers camp days. These No School Camp dates require flexibility and availability for work outside the normal shift hours and can vary. Applicants must be punctual, reliable, professional, and nurturing. References, criminal background check, and being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are required. Experience working with children is required, and previous experience in a Montessori setting is preferred, but not required.

After School Floater

Montessori School of Durham is seeking an After School Floater who will work with the Early Childhood and Elementary age children. Responsibilities include: preparing and organizing activities inside and on the playground, supervising and engaging the children in after school activities, and escorting children to on-campus Enrichment activities. The normal school day schedule for this position is 12:30 - 6:00 pm Monday through Friday. The After School Floater also works on days that school is not in session when the After School Program offers camp days. These dates require flexibility and availability for work outside the normal shift hours and can vary. Applicants must be punctual, reliable, professional, and nurturing. References, a criminal background check and being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are required. Experience working with children is required, previous experience in a Montessori setting is preferred, but not required.

Substitute Aide

Montessori School of Durham is seeking Substitute Aides for classrooms and After School programs for the 2021-2022 school year. Our school serves children from 15 months to 12 years old. A Substitute Aide would assist a lead teacherlead instructor from our After School program, or an assistant teacher or instructor who is acting as the lead for the day. Hours may vary depending on the school's needs. Applicants must be punctual, reliable, professional, nurturing, and willing to learn Montessori practices. References, criminal background check and being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are required. Teaching or childcare experience is required and previous experience in a Montessori setting is preferred but not required.
