Positions available:

Essential functions: The physical requirements to these positions, include but are not limited to picking up and carrying a child of minimum of 40 pounds, and mobility necessary to reach a child quickly in an emergency. Work will be conducted indoors and outdoors, and with animals of various kinds. Being on campus is an essential function of the job unless the school is mandated to move to remote learning. If remote learning becomes necessary, direction will be given at that time.

 

Toddler Assistant Teacher (Full-time)

The Montessori School of Durham is seeking a full-time Assistant Teacher in our Montessori Toddler classroom, with children 15 months to 3 years of age. Applicants must be responsible and willing to learn Montessori methods. Training is provided. The length of day is 11:30 am to approximately 6 pm, year-round, and starting in August at the beginning of the 2022-23 school year. References and a criminal background check are required. Applicants must show proof they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which includes a booster, if eligible. A bachelor’s degree is preferred and experience working with children is required. Class size is 12 with a team of four staff members, including a credentialed Montessori Lead Teacher. Toddler Assistant Teacher (Part-time)

The Montessori School of Durham is seeking a part-time Assistant Teacher in our Montessori Toddler classroom, with children 15 months to 3 years of age. Applicants must be responsible and willing to learn Montessori methods. Training is provided. The length of day is 7:15 am to approximately 12:45 pm, year-round, and starting in August at the beginning of the 2022-23 school year. References and a criminal background check are required. Applicants must show proof they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which includes a booster, if eligible. A bachelor’s degree is preferred and experience working with children is required. Class size is 12 with a team of four staff members, including a credentialed Montessori Lead Teacher.

Early Childhood After School Assistants

Montessori School of Durham is seeking After School Assistants who will work with the Early Childhood age children. Responsibilities include: preparing and organizing activities inside and on the playground, supervising and engaging the children in after school activities and quiet rest/nap, and escorting children to on-campus Enrichment activities. The After School Assistants also work during the Summer, and on days that school is not in session when the After School Program offers camp days. These No School Camp dates require flexibility and availability for work outside the normal shift hours and can vary. Multiple work schedule options are available. Applicants must be punctual, reliable, professional, and nurturing. References, criminal background check, and being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and a booster if eligible, is required. Experience working with children is required, and previous experience in a Montessori setting is preferred, but not required.

Summer Camp Assistants

Montessori School of Durham is seeking Summer Camp Assistants who will work with children 3 years old - rising 7th grade. MSD camps are all Montessori-inspired programs that ignite passion and curiosity for lifelong learning while exploring the weekly theme. The success of the summer is all about our caring, dedicated, and energetic staff. Responsibilities include: supporting lead instructor activities inside and on the playground as well as supervising and engaging children in camp activities. Multiple work schedule options are available. Applicants must be punctual, reliable, professional, and nurturing.  References, criminal background check, as well as proof of COVID-19 vaccination, and a booster if eligible, is required. Teaching or childcare experience is required and previous experience in a Montessori setting is preferred but not required.

Substitute Aide

Montessori School of Durham is seeking Substitute Aides for classrooms and Auxiliary programs for the 2021-2022 school year. Our school serves children from 15 months to 12 years old. A Substitute Aide would assist a lead teacher, a lead instructor from our After School program or Summer program, or an assistant teacher or instructor who is acting as the lead for the day. Multiple work schedule options are available. Applicants must be punctual, reliable, professional, nurturing, and willing to learn Montessori practices.
