Positions available:

Essential functions: The physical requirements to these positions, include but are not limited to picking up and carrying a child of minimum of 40 pounds, and mobility necessary to reach a child quickly in an emergency. Work will be conducted indoors and outdoors, and with animals of various kinds. Being on campus is an essential function of the job unless the school is mandated to move to remote learning. If remote learning becomes necessary, direction will be given at that time.
 

Office Assistant

Montessori School of Durham (MSD) seeks a part-time, detail-oriented Office Assistant to join its administrative team. The Office Assistant will be responsible for general office functions such as (but not limited to) receptionist duties, escorting visitors and students to and from classrooms, tracking daily attendance, distributing messages/notices/packages, purchasing supplies, filing, scanning, organizing event functions. The hours are 7:45am to 1pm with occasional days to 1:30pm. Applicants must be punctual and reliable. Applicants should be proficient in Google applications, as well as data entry, database management, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, mail merges, and word processing. Proficiency in social media platforms and a bachelor’s degree are desired. Applicable experience in an office setting of 3-5 years is required. References and a criminal background check are required. Eligible candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including a booster if eligible.

Infant and Toddler Lead and Assistant Teachers

The Montessori School of Durham seeks experienced and compassionate Infant and Toddler Lead and Assistant Teachers for its brand new Infant classroom (ages 3 to 15 months) and its three established Toddler classrooms (ages 15 months to 3 years). Full-time, year-round positions are available as well as part-time, academic year positions.

Early Childhood After School Assistants

Montessori School of Durham is seeking After School Assistants who will work with the Early Childhood age children. Responsibilities include: preparing and organizing activities inside and on the playground, supervising and engaging the children in after school activities and quiet rest/nap, and escorting children to on-campus Enrichment activities. The After School Assistants also work during the Summer, and on days that school is not in session when the After School Program offers camp days. These No School Camp dates require flexibility and availability for work outside the normal shift hours and can vary. Multiple work schedule options are available. Applicants must be punctual, reliable, professional, and nurturing. References, criminal background check, and being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and a booster if eligible, is required. Experience working with children is required, and previous experience in a Montessori setting is preferred, but not required.

Substitute Aide

Montessori School of Durham is seeking Substitute Aides for classrooms and Auxiliary programs for the 2021-2022 school year. Our school serves children from 15 months to 12 years old. A Substitute Aide would assist a lead teacher, a lead instructor from our After School program or Summer program, or an assistant teacher or instructor who is acting as the lead for the day. Multiple work schedule options are available. Applicants must be punctual, reliable, professional, nurturing, and willing to learn Montessori practices. References, criminal background check, as well as proof of COVID-19 vaccination, and a booster if eligible, is required. Teaching or childcare experience is required and previous experience in a Montessori setting is preferred but not required.
